Re: Offseason grades so far

The last time the Canucks had a contending team they basically only had the Sedins in the “rebuild” and not much else. They only became contenders when a couple of grinders (Kesler and Burrows) started scoring. They picked up most of their other forwards through trades and free agency. It came out o...

Re: Let's get creative with Erikkson...

Is this a solution to the Eriksson issue? Throw him in piles or plucked ear hairs wherever he goes until he gives up and retires. Is that it? Brilliant!

Re: Vancouver's Hockey "Media"

JP Barry is on the air saying things you don’t hear often in the media. I think he is desperate. I think he has been told his client is likely on his way to Utica unless some other team will take him without giving up other assets. Now he is floating that the Canucks need to take someone equally bad...

Re: Vancouver's Hockey "Media"

That’s just weird. I have questions about the chemistry and how the top two lines will turn out and if they will score enough, but the bottom two lines played effectively together last year. They didn’t score a ton, but they could play big minutes without hurting the team defensively. I see their bo...

Re: 2019 offseason

Benning said he’d like to move one or two players this summer. I bet one is Eriksson and two is Schaller.
I doubt Sutter moves as they’ll want centre depth. If Goldobin signs he’ll be in Utica as injury call-up depth, which is fine.
I kind of think he will head overseas. I would if I were him.

Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

4, 7, or 8 5 or 6 doesn’t get enough FA years. With less FA years, 5 or 6 comes at a lower AAV than 7 or 8 then right? 5 or 6 years seems to be in vogue these days for 2nd contracts. It gives team/player a * possibility * of an 8 year deal on the 3rd contract. You would think it’d be lower, but it ...

Re: 2019 offseason

I really hope we have a good and healthy season. Vancouver fans can be some of the most annoying in the league. It’d be nice to win again so they can be annoying to other city’s fans instead of each other. It feels better when everyone hates us. Canucks were beginning to get sympathy from other fans...

Re: 2019 offseason

I think they are already good. No moves are necessary except choosing who to send to Utica. The only confirmation needed is that the players that don’t require waivers don’t count against the cap when the roster is set on the first day, after that Roussel can be on IR, and the roster is fine at leas...

Re: 2019 offseason

I dont think you can write off roussel to the IR til the season starts. That sounds right but I don’t think they need to claim a full 23 man roster either, so not all the young players need to count against the cap if they don’t have to clear waivers. I believe they can get away with leaving Hughes...

Re: 2019 offseason

Yah the Canucks are fine if Goldobin doesn’t sign for much or goes to the KHL, at least until Roussel is healthy, but someone else is probably hurt by then so it likely won’t matter. No need for trades where they give up something or salary dumps at the moment. Here’s the roster with Eriksson, but s...
