Re: 2018 Winter Olympics - PyeongChang

Sweden beats Finland to win the group. 3-1, with the empty-netter. Very physical game. A lot of emotion. I can see that Pettersson might have had problems with his light frame. Yet I miss his shot and smarts on the power play. Sweden are aught for twelve on the power play in this tournament. You hea...

Article on Jonathan Dahlén showing that same fierce loyalty the Sedins have, putting the team ahead of himself:

Re: What to do about the Sedins? (Poll)

spritziest   Yeah, well, the Swedish word was "piggaste" which is the superlative of the adjective "pigg", which is not really a typical hockey word. Other offered meanings would be sprightly, vivacious, lively, brisk or peppy. Guess I could have gone with spirited, but I was trying to c...

Re: 2018 Winter Olympics - PyeongChang

Sweden beat Norway 4-0, but it's not much of a test. Neither will the game against Germany tomorrow be.
It's not till we face Finland on Sunday that we will get some idea of where the team stands.

Re: What to do about the Sedins? (Poll)

I took the liberty to translate an article in Aftonbladet's sports section, Sportbladet: DALLAS. It will, in all likelyhood, be a spring without playoff hockey in Vancouver this year as well. But Daniel and Henrik Sedin have great hope for a great future for the team in their heart. The question rem...

Re: 2018 Winter Olympics - PyeongChang

Great start for the tournament! Slovakia beats Russia (or, technically "OAR", but... yeah... Russia) 3-2! ... and when you think things can't get crazier: Slovenia beats the USA 3-2 in ot! Slovenia! That's like a tiny little splinter of Yugoslavia. And we all know how great a hockey nation Yug...

Re: 2018 Winter Olympics - PyeongChang

Hey Per - is Pettersson in the lineup, or on the squad? Also - how is Sweden reacting to the lack of NHL players, has excitement diminished over there? Sadly, Pettersson did not make the roster. Quite a few sports journalists think he should have, and I agree. Sure, maybe they feel he is too light ...

Re: 2018 Winter Olympics - PyeongChang

Canada beat Sweden 4-1 in the dress rehearsal. Enroth in the Swedish crease instead of Fasth, that most expect to be the starting goalie. It seems to have become a tradition that Canada and Sweden square off in a practice game ahead of most major tournaments. Guess it's a good litmus test for both n...

Re: Canucks News and Notes 2017-2018

Anders Nilsson was named Hetero of the Year at the QX Gay Gala in Stockholm for his work with Hockey Is For Everyone and for displaying a pride flag on his goalie mask. Good for him. I'm sure he is proud. He now has proof that he is not just hetero, but Hetero of the Year. As manly as a man can get....

Re: Canucks News and Notes 2017-2018

can you blame the trainers for broken or cracked bones? Probably to some extent. It used to be that female footballers suffered far more knee injuries than maler footballers. Then someone came up with the explanation that it is due most women having a tendency to being knock kneed, while men tend m...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Pettersson is on TSN2 right now, 1st period, no score. Well, they lost this game 2-0. It was a Championship game. Per: Can you weigh in on this when your about? What I noticed more than anything was the unbelievably long shifts by the Swedish coach, all game. Is this normal? Seems to me shorter shi...
