Re: GDT: Canucks at St. Blues Oct 17 5:00 PM Start

When does the goalie controversy thread start? Canucks managed to hang with the Blues. Blues simply leaned on Elias for much of the night knowing he's still not strong enough. He broke free a few times though. Horvat needs wingman, could 21 draw back in? Sutter and Beagle lines do the heavy lifting...

Re: GDT: Canucks at St. Blues Oct 17 5:00 PM Start

So like ya, who scored? Who got assists. How was the pk, pp. game recap?!?!? It’s sad I have to go to another hockey site to get this information! PP was awful. Zone entries were terrible, with the first unit relying on “hero” entries and the second dumping it in without regard for whether a player...

Re: Todd Bertuzzi for Ring of Honour?

Morrison couldn't win a faceoff if his life depended on it. Bertuzzi - no fucking way, let him sulk at the end of the bench. Naslund's jersey should have a noose around it to signify the choke. So, how do you really feel about the WCE? Seriously, don't hold back! They had a year and a half dominant...

Re: GDT: Canucks vs. Detroit Oct 15 7:00 PM Start

Leivo is the worst player on this team. If it works cap-wise I would be demoting him and recalling Baertschi as soon as the latter starts to show he's physically ready to engage. They are both on a 1-way deal, so the "buried" rule applies. The Canucks are saving $1.075 million in cap space off Baes...

Re: GDT: Canucks vs. Detroit Oct 15 7:00 PM Start

Excellent game overall. Observations: * The Red Wings aren't good. One strong young line, a few unmovable vets, a poor defensive group overall, and average goaltending. Particularly noticeable was the poor passing coming out of the zone. Seems like the Canucks lived that movie pretty recently.... Th...

Pettersson's been doing pretty well, too. His shot is off; the chances are there, so is the puck control and possession game. He will have a 3 point game in the next three games and everyone will forget about a slow start.
Fixed.

Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

Wonder if that hit on Boeser is still affecting him? Boeser is not finding lanes to unleash his shot. He will. His one on one battle game is very good. His defensive game looks better than I've ever seen it. Honestly, for a guy who basically missed camp, he's on track. Pettersson's been doing prett...

Re: GDT: Canucks vs. LA Kings Oct 10 7:00 PM Start

Gotta love Drew Doughty "We shouldn't be losing 8-2 to a team like that" At least that quote acknowledges the LA Kings should lose to some teams 8-2. Objectively, they aren't a good team. Just an older version of the already too old team that wasn't good last season. And last night, the Canuc...

Re: OOTS; 2019-2020

I don’t know if I called it here, but I figured this would be a down year for the sharks, they’re getting super old and losing pavelski is a bigger loss than the media was making it out to be. There's a lot of season to play and they can turn it around. But the signs were there. Here's what I said ...

Re: GDT: Canucks @ oiler - 7pm- SN-P -Oct 2

. Tanev was a moving truck away from the play to the outside. Yes, Tanev was wide to give Sutter the option of flipping the ice to break out and then was clearly going to change. Right or wrong positioning by Tanev, ideally Hughes reads that and knows he has the center lane. I don't think he recogn...

Re: GDT: Canucks @ oiler - 7pm- SN-P -Oct 2

So is Hughes 6 games in a bust now that the fastest hockey player in the world, the best hockey player in the world parted the seas between him and his partner? Please, the goat on that goal was Sutter the beloved No, Hughes isn't a bust. Yes, Sutter was the goat. Didn't move his feet (could have s...

We can probably claim him off waivers in a week or two.

There are rumors of poor conditioning.

Re: GDT: Canucks @ oiler - 7pm- SN-P -Oct 2

That is the second time I've seen Hughes with a lazy backhanded whiff while turning away from the play at an opponent coming down the middle. If you're referring to the McDavid goal, I'd have to say pull your head out of your ass. How many times has McDavid done that to more experienced defenders? ...

Re: GDT: Canucks @ oiler - 7pm- SN-P -Oct 2

A few thoughts.... * Boeser made a couple of great plays on defense against McDavid. Anticipated the play movement and won body position. Small things done unusually well (for him) should be noticed. * Miller was terrific down low in the cycle. Pearson was trigger man. The Horvat line was the best l...

Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

And the only way to get three dangerous lines is to move Miller and Ferland down (or some combination of current top 6) and that requires players who can go up the lineup and succeed at going up. I’m not talking great players, I am talking 20 goal 45 point guys. Baertschi was not going to get 20 go...
