Re: GDT: Canucks @ Oilers. 6pm SN SN1 - Jan 14

Thoughts on the game: * Whatever one makes of Hughes' moment standing up for Boeser, he was the goat of this game. Not the GOAT. When he got out of the box, he was clueless. The stand in the slot and watch the puck and not the players thing isn't a good look. That 4th goal was the backbreaker and Hu...

Re: Canucks @ Oilers. 7pm SN SN1

* First Period was terrible hockey and would have been terrible to watch were it not the first game in a long while. * Third period was quite loose and sloppy -- a ton for the coach to work on, but fun to watch. * Its the first game after a compressed camp and no games. So it was sort of expected. *...

Re: Canadian Division

Rob Williams @RobTheHockeyGuy TSN guys not loving the Canucks chances in the North Division. Only one person picked them to make the playoffs and only Ottawa finished worse overall. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ErlRqLMUYAEHXXt?format=jpg&name=small 7:39 PM · Jan 12, 2021 The Canadiens added a slow-f...

It tolls for us all, Ratski. And when it tolls for one of us, we all lose something.

Re: US Erection 12 *AND* 16 *AND* 20

But I agree, the main problem behind the current mess in the USA is that people live in bubbles. They only hear one side of the story, and have ended up with separate world views and no understanding for the other side. I think few other countries have a divide as bad as the one in the USA, and it ...

Re: US Erection 12 *AND* 16 *AND* 20

So.... you say you think it's a good idea when a government can force a private company to publish things they don't want to publish? Interesting. Sounds fairly close to communism imho. :hmmm: And why should Polish law be the arbiter for a US company's decision on what to publish? Why don't they ju...

Re: Canucks Training Camp 2021

I think Gaudette always performed better as a winger, his struggles as an NHL centerman were pretty apparent. Not to say he won't grow into the role, like Horvat has, but Gaudette is more like Petersson - better as a C/LW than as a pure C. While I agree with your observation that Gaudette has some ...

Re: Canucks Training Camp 2021

Green saying the "right" things on Sutter at centre instead of wing... Sutter is a better center in the defensive zone and probably a better winger in the offensive zone. I'll take the version that's a better defensive player. I think his positioning as a winger in the defensive zone is remarkably ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

Benning should get way more credit than he has for his off season. Not taking on the Markstrom deal but scoring Holtby, the Schmidt/Hamonic swap out for Tanev/Stecher, getting Rathbone signed, and now the excitement surrounding Hoglander. Losing Toffoli hurt but it creates an opportunity for Hoglan...

Re: World Juniors 2021

Over a 7 game series the Canadians win hands down. The Americans did exactly as you said. The Canadian coach should’ve seen it coming and had a counter plan but didn’t. Maybe. But we've seen lots of 7 games series' where the less skilled team won with (1) better goaltending, (2) good defense, and (...

Re: World Juniors 2021

Canada-Finland; USA-Sweden. These should be great games. Both games are to win the group, but the USA-Sweden game is way more important — really for all four teams. I’m not sure the tiebreak rules if they draw in regulation and USA wins in overtime and Russia, Sweden, and USA end up with 8 points, b...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

Point was UW, that the shitty contracts have fucked the team more than COVID. Could have easily retained Tanev and Toffoli without a couple of the useless pieces of shit taking up space on the 4th line. Yes, there are more than Tanev and Toffoli’s contracts in bad contracts. But then you missed my ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

The thing is, Beagle earned a sweet retirement contract for all his years of loyal service to the Caps culminating in a Stanley Cup. When Washington didn't have the room to make that happen it was awful thoughtful of Jim and Mr Aquilini to step up with that offer. Players notice that sort of thing....

Re: Canucks Contracts

They’ll need to whittle that down by seven to start the season leaving them with 23 on the roster and 6 on the taxi squad. Those seven, unless they are awesome at camp, will likely be Michaelis, Lockwood, Gadjovich, Elliot, Brisebois, Woo, and Teves. Hopefully they have a Utica team to play on this...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

Oh ya that guy. :hmmm: Hes another one of those enigmatic players with all the tools but limited hockey sense. Correct. It isn’t just that he is a poor defensive player, he looks lost. He is a chaser, with no concept of assignments. At least that’s what I saw in the brief call up with minimal ice a...
