Re: Canucks Young Guns

I didn't really follow either Goldy or Lipstick earlier in their careers, but is there really that much of a difference from Dahlen? Asking from a lack of knowledge, not trying to disagree (and I'm too lazy right now to do any in depth research). The main difference if you are on a Canucks message ...

Remember that Flames - Leafs trade way back where the leafs sent 4 depth players for Phaneuf, I think Benning has built up a lot of depth now (yes not elite depth), but depth regardless and I think he may want to swing a big player swap before training camp. Jan. 2010 CALGARY - Looking to add depth...

Re: What to do with Hughes

I'd like to see Hughes turn pro without a guaranteed roster spot. He might not be NHL ready, but he is AHL ready, with or without a club making competition concessions for player development. And while I think there are several advantages to playing in the NCAA rather than the CHL (disadvantages, to...

Re: Free Agency 2018 & Everything Related

Leafs if they land Tavares, Kypreo's said they gotta move Nylander due to cost, they can't have 4 forwards all making over $7M, and they really need that stable fluid defensive dman. @RealKyper, asked about the chances William Nylander could be Vancouver-bound: "I think very good. You're going to h...

Re: Free Agency 2018 & Everything Related

Saw Benning on Global news tonight. Sounds like no defensemen will be signed. He said they already have 8 with contracts plus Sautner, Juolevi might be ready and maybe Hughes signs. He said they are looking for support players for the young skilled guys they have coming up. He mentioned an energy p...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Trymankin’s agent confirms he approached the Canucks at the recent combine to discuss Tryamkin’s return to Vancouver. He wanted to get a sense of the value the Canuck’s placed on him and where they saw him fitting in the depth chart. He describes it as a positive meeting and indicated Trymankin wil...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

I highly doubt this injury is as severe as Edler's... and the surgery has advanced in recent years. It's actually pretty common now and Juolevi will likely be ready for full training within a month. (I did my own research this morning... sorry, no links) I think that the severity of Edler's injury ...

Re: Canucks News and Notes 2017-2018

Like Tyler Johnson and other smaller players, Petrus Palmu will likely need a solid two years of AHL development to properly prepare for the NHL. Never drafted Tyler Johnson needed an extra year in junior just to earn a free agent ELC. To be sure, 18 year olds typically haven't reached physical mat...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Hughes is not 5’-10”. All you have to do is arm him in the ice against others to realize he’s no taller than Jordan Subban From watching these playoffs Im again reminded why some size is required on defence at the NHL level When the league was more tilted against small guys, Brian Rafalski listed (...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

My categories are predictable and controllable, predictable but beyond control, random. An individual player's injuries could be any of them. Maybe they are out of shape (predictable and controllable). Maybe they play beserker hockey (predictable and controllable). Maybe they have had mutiple knee i...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

Shit happens. Every team suffers injuries. Shit happens. Every team suffers injuries. But the Canucks are a top 3 team the 2 of the past 3 seasons and in the top 5 the other season for forwards/defensemen games lost to injury. I don't know how much is something controllable (e.g., training causing ...

Victor Hedman is the first guy I can think of that one might have an argument about being more highly touted, but most probably consider Dahlin an even better prospect. Hedman was 9 years ago, I think.

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

Kind of taking a left turn here but what would it take to get the 1OA out of Buffalo? This is a fun question. But I think the answer is "it would take Dahlin saying there is no way he will ever play for the Sabres." Then let's go back to history. Eric Lindros was traded for Chris Simon (then a rece...

Re: Canucks News and Notes 2017-2018

Fine, we overlook his bucket of blunders and keep Goldobin for his flashes of brilliance, but really mostly because Tryamkin wants to kiss him and love him and hug him and squeeze him and call him George. Or we pay attention to the fact that with each call up Goldobin's defensive game was better an...
