Re: Canucks Contracts

Generally agree with this, except ... Boucher would never have scored at the same pace. Boucher has been given ample opportunity and simply can't get his shot off in the NHL. His release is too slow. Leivo: GP -- 133, G -- 24, A -- 22 Boucher: GP -- 133, G -- 20, A -- 22 And Boucher rode shotgun wi...

I’m curious if Gudbranson is considered a cancer to the Benning faithful after he was traded.
Just on the ice, between the whistles.

Re: How to fix the Canucks defense?

Dahlen and his agent decided on this gambit and lost. Simple as that. Is getting traded a loss for the player? Not like it is a loss for the team if the return is inadequate. What was and is puzzling to me about the deal is why the Canucks would give a rat's ass (no offense, Rats) about an ultimatu...

Re: Canucks Contracts

Wow! You really don't like the guy. From my chair his skills seemed better than you from yours. Sorry, I thought it was a good pick-up. Not part of the long term plan but certainly not a scrub either. I am a little more strident about Leivo than most because his shortcomings are more hidden. People...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

If I were Holland I wouldn’t be looking to trade either of my top two centres. You build around that. Again, I wasn't making a trade proposal involving the Canucks, but a fair return from the Canucks for McDavid absolutely involves Elias Pettersson going the other way. Wouldn't you rather have Drai...

Re: Canucks Contracts

I like Leivo and I thought he was one of JB's better pickups. Did you intend this to be a stinging indictment of JB? Granted, he was "free" in terms of it being a no-prospect trade -- AHL vet for the AHL vet happy Marlies. But there are always waiver players who can do what Leivo did: eat up a spot...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 18-19 Sponsored by SKYO

It's everything the Canucks have never done really & that's sell high on one of it's players before they start to decline & get NTC's & lose all of their top trade value, the Canucks loyalty is their weakness. Although I don't disagree as a general matter, they sold high on Linden and got a very go...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

What do you do if your in Holland’s shoes? The Oilers are a mess. First and foremost they need goaltending. Just awful in the nets. That has to be quick fix now, but how? Well, if you are Ken Holland in Ken Holland's shoes, you identify all of the NHL-caliber but not all-that-special players on the...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

I didn’t miss any point. Canucks are among the slowest teams in the league. Boucher (or Leivo) is 26 and he can’t skate. I know he has a great shot but he’s pretty much a one trick pony at the NHL level. He’s a great AHL player however. There we go. Looks better now. Definitely more complete. I thi...

A. Vigneault is the new Flyers head coach.
Wow, took him long enough..
Flyers are perfect for him / no, edit / The city is perfect for him.
I think he'll do well there.
AV picked his spot. As did JQ.

Both teams have a lot to build on.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Coaches getting mo' $$$ than front line players. And a good one is worth as many wins. JQ for a long time was among the best. I'd say THE best. But the advantage of being ahead of your time is because other teams haven't figured out how to counter it, how to emulate it, or both. They have now. So u...

I think he's frustrated, managements frustrated, coach Green doesn't give AF, to me that signals a NTC waiving. If Green put Loui with Beagle and Motte for large stretches of the season to force him into waiving, that's, well, impressive? Put him with Horvat for the last 10 and tell partners -- tha...

Carolina is deep on D. He may just want to go somewhere were he has a better shot at making the NHL, sooner rather than later.
Maybe he wants to be scrutinized in a fishbowl like Vancouver while going through 5 umbrellas a year
Maybe he wants to get a degree from Harvard.

Re: Canuck News and Notes - 2018-2019

I think it would be more crucial to find a replacement for Leivo, as that line has gone quiet with him on the wing. There may be a few reasons why Pettersson has gone quiet. But Leivo is absolutely one of those reasons. The guy makes some plays, but he kills more. And whereas Goldobin killed plays ...
