Re: 2018 NHL DRAFT - Who does JB take.

Its so hard to predict who's going to be available at 7, but I went with Walhstrom for the first pick.

I think he'll take a D with his 2nd pick, and there are a lot of North American D currently ranked as late-1sts, so I'm gonna go with K'Andre Miller (which is really just a shot in the dark).

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

. Makes me wonder if they’d be willing to trade back to 7th? If the Canucks make that trade, who would you want at #3? If Kotkaniemi gets drafted at his ranking, he could even be available at the NYI 11/12 picks. That might be a worthwhile trade for NYI to trade up for an elite winger, but I don't ...

Tanev + Eriksson (50% retained for 1 year) + 7th overall + 2019 1st + Goldobin + Hutton + 2019 3rd Eriksson + Gaborik Gotta think there is zero chance we trade the 2019 1st when we are hosting the draft. Oh right. Good point. I forgot about that. New Jersey was hosting the draft when they did the S...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Tryamkin got a lot of PIMs with the canucks as well. Physical hockey was never his problem. He didn't like being encouraged to goon or fight, or deliberately try to injure players like Pronger. But he was undoubtedly the most dangerous player every shift, because it took so little effort for him to ...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

The problem will be, the games in the KHL are not as intense and most assuredly not as hard hitting. Realize that's a generalization but I still think when he returns, he will again be taken back. Thing is, he'll be 3 years older. Hard-hitting hockey doesn't really affect Tryamkin. The bodychecks j...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

Interesting look at buyout targets. One guy that jumps out is Matt Hunwick, 2 more years at $2.25 mil. Pitt is desperate for cap space, and has said they won't buy him out. He'd probably crack the top-6, and if not the Canucks can afford to bury him. Might be worth a 3rd to take him off Pitt's hand...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Maybe its because this year I'm following the moves up and down the scout rankings more than usual, but I feel like this draft is full of wildcards and there is very little consensus. A month ago I looked at centers and thought it would be too much of a reach for the Canucks to get Kotkaniemi at 7, ...

You could stand a good dose of reality old friend :)
Buddy, we deliberately choose, on an ongoing basis, to be fans of the Canucks.

Reality is of no use to us.

Craig Button says.....

Moving along, nothing to see here.
Well, we're citing Eklund in the trade rumor thread, might as well cite Button in the draft thread! :drink:

Re: Canucks Young Guns

How perfect, it's June, the Sedins have been retired for 2 months, the Canucks dropped in the draft lottery (again), and their top 3 prospects are all hurt -Boeser, Peterson and now Juolevi.

If anybody ever asks about Canuck Luck, this is the perfect example.

Re: Canucks Young Guns

I believe Edler said it took a year to get back to 100%, that lines up with people I know who have had the same procedure, but it does seem that pro athletes are recovering much faster. Parise had it last fall, he was back in 12 weeks but was clearly not at full speed.

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

You really think the Sharks are still a cup contender? I don't see it. Think they're a team about to start a "rebuild" or maybe a "retool". We in Van city seem to have a discrepancy in regards to these words. I agree, but if SJS replaces Thornton with Tavares, the rebuild is pretty well f...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

If Thornton isn't returning to San Jose, they have the cap space and everything else to lure Tavares. Being on Tavares' list is a bit like being nominated for an Oscar - it's nice, but doesn't really mean fuck all unless you win. I think it's conceivable we're on his short list, but we'd have to do ...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

I'd rather have 1-2 more 2nd's to use at the 2019 draft (we are hosting). Score draft picks for taking on possible buyout candidates like Spezza, Gaborik, or Dubinsky. I agree with the sentiment, but I think Benning has a better chance gaining picks by flipping Gagner and eventually Stastny. Adding...
