Re: Francesco Ballard

I frankly don’t have the time right now, but would love to see the results of a comparison between the teams under corporate ownership (ie-Rogers, Comcast, MSG, etc) and private ownership in terms of team success since the cap came in. More than numbers of Cups, what the comparison is with winning ...

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

Tell that to Colorado - that 1st for Duchene the year after the Sens made it to the ECF is now looking like a lotto pick.

I agree it's a gamble, but that kind of gamble seems to be the only way to acquire a high lotto pick.

Isn’t it easier to make a deal now for another 1st before the season starts, especially to a team like the Oilers? If we wait until December or TDD then teams in bottom 10 won’t be moving their pick.
I like it! Take advantage of the Coil's misplaced optimism!

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

Lol Stone has averaged ten more points a year and is three years younger and a much better two way player. Yes they are exactly the same. First, that's not true, Stone averages more PPG and fewer GPG. So we can quibble about a couple points, but it doesn't change the fact that Stone is a 50-6...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 18-19 Sponsored by SKYO

Point is nobody drafted two seasons earlier was likely going to make much of an impact on a cup run. That's interesting, I thought that as a rule every recent Cup winner had key players on ELCs on their roster. Pens 2009 - Letang and Staal Hawks 2010 - Craword, Kane and Toews Bruins 2011 - Seguin w...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Oh Jeebus. Oilers get Jack Hughes. :scowl: Or maybe they give us a 1st for Tanev That is a trade I could see happening. Oilers 1st for either Tanev or Edler. Something along those lines make sense for both sides. I doubt it, it'll be another lotto year in Edmonton, no way do they part with their 1s...

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

] Hoffman isn’t as good as any of those players... not even close. Not to mention he had a major shitcloud hanging over him... but please carry on. Karlsson is a top 10 player in the game and Stone is better than Skinner ( who will return a 1st if Buffalo sucks) Hoffman is almost exactly as good as...

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

Ottawa, though they’ve made some dumb mistakes isn’t in near as bad of shape as a lot of people think. They have three major pieces to move that they could get a ton back for in EK, Stone and Duchene. That return looks like three 1sts, and four or five high end prospects/young players imho. I humbl...

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

Hughes was a good pick but the Canucks didn’t fill their two biggest needs for prospect depth. They still need a top line left winger and a top pairing right shot defenseman. If they could trade next years 1st and other assets for Brady Tkachuk and Noah Dobson, they should. Why would NYI and Ottawa...

Point made - never trade with the Blues, their scouts are killer...

https://thehockeywriters.com/st-louis-b ... -contract/
Other point also made - get Boeser signed for 8 years.

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

Baertschi will have to have a MASSIVE upswing to his game. IMO, he is a 40-45 point guy. The weak link on our first line. If Goldobin comes to camp with consistency in his work ethic, he can challenge for that first line winger spot - he has the skill set (and in fantasy land, so could Virtanen).. ...

Re: The Rebuild...

Who here thinks it’s a good thing we actually have enough decent young players that it’s possible we may lose some for nothing on waivers? I’m loving it. I don’t see any decent young players being lost on waivers I would take a Frankie Corrado as the high-point of players lost on waivers. Not good ...

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

^This. If any of these underachievers turn a corner it would make somewhat of a difference. 2+ of them blossoming would make the canucks a darkhorse...provided EP and Dahlen translate their euro success to the NHL I am 100% with Micky - the void left by the Sedins will be filled by someone, and I c...

Trouba gets 1-year, $5.5 million in arbitration. After a "marathon" arbitration arson session, they just literally split the difference! I had thought there was a rule that a player isn't tradeable after the team accepts the arbitration ruling, but I must have had that mixed up with matching ...

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

Was Trev better at managing a gym or a Jim? I was never a fan of the hire of Linden. To me it was a PR move to appease the fans in the coming turbulent years and at that he failed miserably. The prez job is to make sure there are butts in seats, Trev's low key demeanour was wrong for creating excit...
