Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

I'm curious, who was it that constantly talked about the fact that bad contracts on this team would not hinder what they needed to do? Based on Cap Friendly, the Canucks only have 33 standard player contracts, not remotely close to 50. They have 9 RFAs and 2 UFAs to sign. The only marquee player is...

Re: 2019 Draft Summary

. On that note, I am pretty surprised that there weren't any D taken. I assume (and hope) this was because they were going for BPA rather than position and felt that the players they chose were that. Still, seems a little odd that not one D man was felt to be BPA in any of the rounds for any of the...

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

I wouldn't worry about a few posters here always defending Jimbo. I learned a while ago that they just do it for the sheer entertainment, it has nothing to do with the job they actually think he's doing. Still fun to debate them but don't ever think you'll be able to reason with them no matter what...

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

I don’t mind Miller but yeah it definitely seems like he had his beer goggles on and lovers nuts for this certain guy. That's funny, there wasn't a single rumor of Benning going after Miller, but you have decided to adopt this narrative that he had beer goggles on for this certain guy. I mean, sure...

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

How are you supposed to get J.T. Millers without giving up something of value? It would have been great to move out a roster player for Miller...but none of our roster players that are considered moveable have that much value. And without trade protection, he could likely return a1st rounder in a y...

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

Why do you think the 1st in the Marleau was conditional?

What does "lottery-protected" mean?

Tuna, your thoughts?

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

This statistical link may help indicate how Miller's ice time and value was (maybe) not being fully weaponized within Tampa's organization.. :scowl: That is interesting, he had identical production to Johnson and Palat, but did it in 1:20 less ice time. Lots of PP time though. I think Miller was le...

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

I'd feel a wee bit better if it was a replacement for Sutter and what he was originally brought in to be! That's what Gaudette is! But Miller is certainly a passable center, he was a legit 2nd line center on the Rangers, but couldn't supplant point and stamkos in Tampa. Actually I feel a little bet...

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

Like many are saying, can't understand why we gave up the first. At least it is lottery protected I guess. His trades are horrible it seems. Ya I'm a pretty big Benning fan, but I really don't like this trade. Benning is so deadly in the first round, I hate to see him move a 1rp. Particularly for a...

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

Best case scenario for the leaves is they lose 3 of their top-6 d.

Considering what's in the pipeline, and what a weakness the blue line already was, I will not be surprised one whit if they miss the playoffs.

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

I cant think of many scenarios where its more beneficial to rush a prospect into an NHL lineup at 18 or even 19...including Pettersson IMO. Especially when your team isn't knocking on the door to contend (which Van isnt just yet) Where else would you have wanted to see Pettersson? There was no room...

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

If Vasiline was a north american prospect he wouldve gone 3rd for sure. Its up to Benning and Co. to figure out the how part of appeasing the russian art of selfishness in a team sport environment Agreed, I think a big help to that is letting him cook that extra year, he'll be more ready to step in...

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

A nice list of the projected first-rounders who are remaining for the 2nd round.

Skyo's boy Lavoie is still there, he'd be a nice pick up at 40 if he's still standing.

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

I'm not thrilled about drafting a Russian, given our luck with them (maybe it's the Larionov curse?), but I love the fact that Jim got another top-5 player without winning the draft lottery. The two year wait doesn't really concern me either, the thought of a 20 year old stepping right in with 3 yea...
