Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

I'm all forgiving on from Ericksson. But, he is a guy that can be useful in the playoffs. So we have him until......lets just cheer for him. Somewhere underneath all that indifference and lethargy is a winger who has historically scored garbage goals from less than 5 ft out. Hard to see it now but ...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 19-20 Sponsored by SKYO

I think it would be more than a mini sweetener to move the cap hit regardless of how much cash is owed. I don’t consider Demko to be a minor sweetener. Ya I agree, I was listing what would be palatable to me, I'm not prepared to give up a major asset to move him - I would sooner play hardball by de...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 19-20 Sponsored by SKYO

[quote=ESQ post_id=374530 time=1582820685 How exactly do we "get rid" of Loui? He likely has zero trade value unless we attach a sweetener, which means giving up a valuable piece (not a great idea). We can buy him out but that adds a cap hit for at least 2-3 years. Can we send him to the minors, li...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 19-20 Sponsored by SKYO

.If not, I actually wouldn't mind keeping him around for another year (after 2020/21 season) as that's when we'll really need the cap space to re-sign Petey + Hughes. If Loui is on the books for another year, it does hurt our chances to re-sign the trio of Toffoli, Tanev + Marky. When I do the math...

Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

How the hell is Loui on the red hot second line, and still only on pace for 20 points?

I have to say, lately Loui has an incredible knack lately for being in the thick of the play, and not picking up a point. If they gave out third assists, he'd be all over that

Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

I don't see Hughes having another stinker against Ottawa. Petey looks like a man possessed. We haven't seen that around the Canucks since Kyle Wellwood. I'm expecting a good result tomorrow. Actually, if anyone's been playing like a man possessed in the Wellwoodian sense, it would have to be Loui :...

I don’t think Muzzin’s contract is that bad myself.
Not a bad comparable for Tanev, I'd take Tanev at that price for 3 years.

Re: 2019/20 Pacific Division

Lots of shutouts and a middling save percentage means less quality starts. Could be, but you also said Fleury can't "steal games" like Lehner can. Stealing games implies an above-expected performance by the goalie, which is also reflected in the shutout stat. I have no other idea of how to quantify...

Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

I’d be looking to extend Stecher at a two or three year deal at a cheaper salary much to the chagrin of the urine crew of course... the guy is a legit NHL d man that loves it here. Two or three years at 1.75 million. He probably jumps at it. “Doyle ducks out of the way because the piss posse is com...

Re: 2019/20 Pacific Division

Last years his save percentage was 23rd among goalies with 20 games. (21st if you go by 30 games, which would then include all starters, 1B starters, and guys who won the starting job during the season). This year he is 38th in save percentage among goalies who have appeared in a third or more of t...

Re: 2019/20 Pacific Division

They also added a solid second pairing D man along with the goaltending insurance and a tenacious bottom six forward They also lost their 3rd line center. We'll see what Martinez has left in the tank, IMO he's a bottom-pairing Dman on the Knights, though certainly an above-average bottom-pairing Dm...

Re: 2019/20 Pacific Division

[quote=ESQ post_id=374310 time=1582649460 As for the Knights, don't dismiss the impact Lehner might have. Fleury is not above average any more (and rarely was, though I like the guy), Lehner is. Lehner can steal games. It will be interesting to see the deployment. I totally disagree. Fleury was the...

Re: 2019/20 Pacific Division

After the TDD, I think the Canucks received the best player amongst Pacific teams. I think Toffoli will have a bigger impact than Martinez, and the Oil and Flames just added depth pieces (paying up futures rather than getting them UFA, but that's a different thread!). However, the loss of Markstrom ...
