Re: 2019 offseason

Absolutely I thought Lucic was a decent target. Turns out he’s as a big of a bust as Eriksson. Ya ditto, he seemed to be what we needed. We needed a 50-point winger, it looked like several were available that year, but they are all busts. Myers looks to be another albatross in the making. Stay far ...

Re: 2018-2019 Playoffs - Round 1

The first step is to be a consistent presence. Think Tampa, Nashville, Boston, Pittsburgh, San Jose, Washington etc. Every year there’s dozens of things that can/do go wrong (luck, injuries, hot opponent, cold goalie, bad calls), but ya gotta be there at least. Tampa lost in the final in 2015, and ...

Remind me again, where did the Avs best players get drafted?
Rantanen was 10th, MacKinnon and Landeskog were drafted when the lottery was far easier to win, prior to the Oilers Rule.

Re: 2018-2019 Playoffs - Round 1

I said back in March, the Flames would have been an ideal opponent for the Canucks, had they snuck in.

Now, two teams that made the playoffs in the final week are through to the second round, and the 31st-place team's pick dropped to 4th.

Maybe this will be the end of Team Tank talk?

I think you are confusing the Tampa/Columbus series with Toronto/Boston. Toronto has been better than Boston.
So Toronto is just screwed by terrible playoff goaltending?

Oh wait, it's the refs and linesmen's fault.

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

You are leavng out a big part though, the day after that blocked shot all Toronto media discussed was an offersheet and Marner is gone this summer. Would Vancouver media do that with Petersson? Darren Dreger's opening line on Leaves lunch for his segment the night after that shot block? "Can you Sa...

The Atlanta Flames, sister team to the New York Islanders, went belly-up and was relocated to Calgary. Atlanta, has blown it twice, yet again i...

Re: Canuck News and Notes - 2018-2019

If they aren’t sure about Demko yet, they should move him and draft Spencer Knight with the 10th pick. I have no issue with moving either goalie for a good price, because only one can be protected in the expansion draft, and if they both keep trending up Seattle will be grabbing one for nothing. Kn...

Skyo's ideals will lead us to the Cup, bookit!
Whooooah, you from Toronto?
Skyo is more intelligent than 90% of NHL GMs, and would do a better job than 135% of NHL GMs. I've shown my math.

Skyo, I was thinking Tanev for taking Callahan off their hands and Tampa's 1st.

They need to re-sign their entire D, and Point needs a new contract after putting up 92 points - he's looking at $8.5mil plus.

Heck, Canucks might as well retain half of Tanev's salary.

Re: 2018-2019 Playoffs - Round 1

We are officially dead... - RIP 2018-2019 Tampa Bay Lightning. 62 regular season wins, 0 playoff wins. Swept away into the cold abyss. Yeesh, at least the Canucks managed one lousy win when they went out in the 1st after winning the President's Trophy. I didn't watch any of the games, and all of th...

as The Thinker used to say - as an aside......botch thinking we can deal horvat, stecher, another player, two 1st's, two 2nds for 1st overall to select Jack Hughes.
Is this the kind of nonsense Botchford is writing now? Good grief. He's an Eklund, without the thin connection to reality.

Somebody also said (or implied) something along the lines of: skilled, high-end players aren’t developed in the AHL. If Zac develops into a player like Anderson, I think we would all be quite happy despite what anyone said. Hm no there still must be a mistake, because somebody also said power...

I said he will need 20 games before he gets called.

Highly unlikely he can knock anyone off the team.
Fortunately, it will take less than 20 games for an injury to open up a spot. Book it.

Re: Canucks Young Guns

One of the players who has stood out for me this post season is Josh Anderson in Columbus and when you look at his career its very similar to Zach MacKewan's, who is 2 years younger, minus the NHL.... https://www.capfriendly.com/players/josh-anderson https://www.capfriendly.com/players/zack-macewen...
