Re: Trade Deadline 2015 - Canucks

Given Matthias age you don't give him a 5-6 year deal. If you do you run the risk of a Higgins/Burrows contract situation. Higgins (31G/7G/19A/26P): We're getting good value for Higgins. He is on a reasonable contract @ 2.5M for 4 years with a limited NTC and has been utilized almost exclusively as...

Re: Trade Deadline 2015 - Canucks

Regarding Shawn Matthias, I think it's very much to the Canuck's interests to sign this guy for a long term contract on a 5 or 6 year contract for market rate. The reason I say this is based on some research I did on Shawn. I looked at his junior career with the Belleville Bulls and found some prett...

Re: Canucks News and Notes

I wouldn't follow the numbers in Utica as much as you'd follow another team. The Canuck prospects are clearly 3rd and 4th liners who get little to no PP time and aren't put in prime positions to get lots of points. I know everyone likes to box score watch but it's really hard to tell how guys are p...

Re: Canucks News and Notes

Cal O'Reilly is 28 years old. DeFazio is 26. I think they would have to clear waivers to be sent back to Utica down the road. In terms of waivers, from CBA: (d) A Player 25 years old or older who plays in one or more Professional Games in the 2013-14 season will be exempt from Regular Waivers as fo...

Re: Canucks News and Notes

You can't google? plus it ain't all about numbers...hence the coaches know wtf they doin' I've already done my googling and I know my numbers. You're the one that's disagreeing but you've provided nothing to back up your disagreement other than, hey, it worked with Kenins... Whats the matter? Can't...

Re: Canucks News and Notes

Jensen recalled. Bonino day to day. Burrows unlikely. So, if Burrows and Bonino can't go next game does Jensen call in? If so, who sits? Kassian or McMillon? I hope it's McMillon who sits in favour of Jensen. We need a goal scorer not another fourth line plumber. If Jensen does get in does he play ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

So both Colorado goalies are injured. They are now in desperation mode trying to find a good starter, who can then be a good back up when Varly gets back. I wonder what we could get for Lack? Do we want to go there? They are said to be looking hard at Vokoun. I was posting on this issue in T&R, but...

Re: Canucks News and Notes

According to Skeletor, Garrison was asked to waive his NTC this summer for a trade to the Blues. He declined.

Re: Too many centers

Its tough to argue with this, since 2 cups in 3 years says a lot, but I think the Kings have had an awful lot of luck along the way, and are a very mediocre team in the regular season. Fortunately for them, their goalie has found another gear in the playoffs and they've had no injuries in the posts...

Re: Too many centers

Vey shoots Right, and Horvat shoots left. I wonder if that leaves the option for them to play the same line and only take faceoffs on their strong side. I believe that's what AV did with Malhotra and Kesler or Hank for defensive zone faceoffs? That's a brilliant strategy. So, just for my edificatio...

Re: Too many centers

However, I would not be surprised if Vey is shipped out by December if Horvat starts playing well. Thing is, these two events (Vey and Horvat playing on the same team) are not mutually exclusive because Vey can play wing. I'm guessing that Desjardins will move Vey to the wing and Vey won't be as ef...
