Re: Canucks Contracts

This is true. He does bleed green and blue and heart can carry a mediocre player much farther than skill without heart. That said, Lloyd indicated that Stetchers' analytics are in line with a #4/5 on a good team...this i would love to see in some sort of verfiable format. The eye test tells me that...

Re: Canucks Contracts

Holy fuck Lloyd you need to stay out of the giggle jar more than i do even. No offense but i pretty well disagree with your assessment of tiny troy word for word. Hes fucking brutal defensively and coughs up more pucks than any dman Ive seen in canucks colours in a long time. He is consistently pus...

Re: Canucks Contracts

I think Stecher has a bit of an identity problem on this board. People see him as an offensive defenseman who hasn't figured out a way to put up points reliably, but that's not what he is. His under-rated smarts, quickness, excellent positioning, top notch gap control, and tireless work ethic, combi...

Re: Canucks News and Notes 2017-2018

I just wish they sent some other AHL guy over Pedan. Gotta give up something to get something. The Canucks probably needed to unload a contract to avoid crowding too close to 50, but I bet the Penguins also wanted a legitimately useful asset in return. I bet we weren't the only team they talked to,...

Re: Canucks News and Notes 2016/17

Seems like the core of Benning's system is to draft a player with a "can't teach that!" skillset which he may not be making the most out of, and then hope to coach/develop the gaps in their games. The tool could be a physical gift, could be an elite skill, or could be an off-the-chart hockey IQ, but...

Re: 2016-17 Utica Comets

Hard to imagine seeing them both with the parent club at the same time, too bad really. I can't see all three of Subban, Larsen, and Stecher on the team... but I can see two of them, especially if one is Stecher who has similar size/skating but plays differently compared to the other two. Of course...

Re: GDT: Canucks vs Blue - 7:00PM PST on SNV

Defense and systems play looking great so far. Just need to get that offensive finish going.

We knew it would be the weakness entering the season... but five regulation goals in three games ain't gonna do it forever.

Optimism meter: still very cautious, but growing.

Re: Canucks News and Notes 2016/17

As someone who does not want to give Shaw a shitton of money when hockey is literally the only thing I'd ever watch on TV, and Gamecenter isn't an option because of living in Burnaby and blackouts... I just want to say: I'm happy that the Internet's perfectly legal streaming community seems to be gr...

Re: 2016-17 Utica Comets

I don't think it's possible, in today's NHL, to play defense without being at least a capable defender. That's why Larsen's spot has been in question despite having a great offensive game, and why Subban was sent down so early. You look at a guy like Cam Barker, who scored 40 points in 68 games at a...

Re: 2016-17 Utica Comets

I still think Stecher is the first call-up (or #2 after Pedan), regardless of Subban's numbers. I've meant it when I've said all along that Subban will likely provide more offense, at least if his past production is to be believed. But Stecher is a stronger all-around player. He's more of a "good pu...

Re: GDT: Canucks host Flames - 7pm 10/15 - CBC

Don't know which game people in this thread were watching, but we look like a much better team than last year's squad. In particular, our transition game is much improved. We've been one of the worst neutral-zone teams in the league for the past several seasons, and that's a key part of the game. Ye...

Re: 2016 Training camp

And I'm talking specifically about Virtanen , Gaunce and Stetcher. I think Virtanen's contributions do blow away other depth wingers we could turn to. He simply adds elements that our team is otherwise missing. His complete package means we aren't relying on his shot/scoring touch to get value. Tot...

Re: 2016 Training camp

I don't think Dorsett's movable. Surely any team that's looking to add depth out of training camp has lots of options available on waivers. Dorsett isn't a huge upgrade on the waiver wire, has a large contract, and would cost an asset to acquire. He may be movable at the deadline to a team looking t...

Re: 2016 Training camp

It really is a shame about needing to get games for Sbisa and Biega. It does make sense because we don't want to be put in a position where we have to force a trade just to get a guy to expose so we can keep Tanev / Edler / Gudbranson... but it sucks. In my ideal world, those two would be sitting #7...
