How Auston Matthews' contract might effect Boeser and Petterson
I think the NHL has been plagued for a really long time (owners and players) by contracts that are too big, too long for franchise talents. It's nobody's fault, really. The player wants security and value, and the owners want the same - to a degree. In a vacuum, as long as the performance is there (...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 18-19 Sponsored by SKYO
I heard on the radio this morning that on Loui's contract actual money owed was not that terrible, 9m over 3 years. I started to think, too hard probably, about the possibility of clearing cap space from guys like Eriksson and Sutter,in either trades for draft Day or a "cap dump for cap dump" situat...

Re: GDT: Canes @ Canucks Jan 23/19 7:30 pm SN
Canes will start Alex Nedeljkovic - 1st NHL start.
So...who do we make him look like?
A) Patrick Roy
B) Dominic Hasek
C) Martin Brodeur
D) 2011 Tim Thomas
I want Petterson to make Svechnikov look horrible, but we have a way about making 1st-timers look like future HoFers...

Re: Canuck News and Notes - 2018-2019
Thats a good thing. I suspect all this has been a shot across the kids bow to clean up some details and invest a little more. Happens every day on every team in the league. Just hope he take his medicine and steps up his game....the team desperately needs him and what he can bring I have a hard tim...

Does not look like JV is going to sit - Line rushes at the Rog are: Baertschi-EP40-Boeser Granlund-Horvat-Leivo Roussel-Sutter-Virtanen Eriksson-Beagle-Motte Spares are Goldy/Schaller - according to Jeff Paterson on Twitter. what a tough spot for any player to be in though. Play your game, but play ...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka
ummm excuse me Flames you guys are supposed to be competing for McDavid, now here you are beating the Blackhawks with awesome goaltending. :hmmm: Just goes to show that any team can win a game against any opponent in the NHL. Except for the Oilers that team fucking suuuuuucks... 23 goals against in...

Re: Young Stars Tourney
One of my favourites is Burrowing Owl. They are a little pricey compared to others in the area, but certainly much better than that ridiculous Mk'Mip or whatever. What a hose job of a "destination" winery that is... I grew up in Summerland, and have been more than spoiled by incredible wines from al...

Re: Forwards - 2014/15
I'd have asked for a do-over on letting Santorelli go. I dunno if it is just a bit of Kool-Aid talking from back in the early season last year... but I think the guy is a fire cracker and completely pumped to play in his hometown. This was a mistake I think. I'd give Hansen until Christmas to reboun...

Re: THE 2015 NHL Entry Draft Thread (McDavid, Eichel et al.)
Acquiring Kane worries me in that passing on him means we risk missing out on a guy who could completely take off and be our leading scorer for a decade, and getting him risks bringing in a huge locker room virus that never pans out... for wayyy too much in return.

Re: THE 2015 NHL Entry Draft Thread (McDavid, Eichel et al.)
I am highly reluctant to consider someone like Evander Kane over a 1st round pick in any draft, let alone the projected talent available in 2015. Evander Kane (so far) is this, IMO: - A streaky, standout player on a bad team - in a weak division, in a weak conference. - An obvious locker room cancer...

Teams I think are on par (give or take 5 points in the standings) or worse (on paper) than the Canucks right now: Edmonton Calgary Arizona *(I will screw this up about 846 times over the next year) Nashville Columbus Winnepeg New Jersey New York Islanders Carolina Florida Ottawa "Maybe's" (likely be...

Re: Forwards - 2014/15
on a couple of players... Hansen - I get he's tough to play against, but we find him in too many prime scoring situations and he botches literally 95% of them. If Hansen had any touch at all he would perenially compete for the team's highest scorer. I think if we had to trade he or Chris Higgins... ...

Wow start carrying umbrellas and gumboots. What a bunch of whiners! There are bound to be some teams dumping salary and we don't have to pay a 37 year old guy 16 mil over 3 years. Benning has positioned this team so that we have a lot of cap space. I think he did it for a reason. Unless of course L...

Re: July 1, 2014, (and beyond) trades, signings , rumours
Can we start coming up with clever slogans for writing off the season for Connor McDavid? Edmonton got so many easy ones... Yeah pretty sure McJesus goes to one of Buffalo/Edmonton/Calgary. And yeah we should probably wait until October before dreaming up any slogans. C'mon, its not very V...
