Re: 2018 NHL DRAFT - Who does JB take.

Got some decent sandpaper in the prospect pool now Gaudette Lockwood Gadjovich Lind Woo Tryamkin (yes he will be back) Sandpaper that can skate, aside from maybe Gadjovich who needs to work on his. The rest of the guys are very good skaters and that’s a big thing for this league now. Hughes I’m hap...

Re: 2018 NHL DRAFT - Who does JB take.

I guessed Dobson, but it’s a crapshoot. No idea how the 4-5 picks before us will go so obviously depends on that. Also depends on any trades we make between now and Friday as that could change organizational needs. Based upon history, Canucks will make zero trades. Say something that no offers were...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Petterson may not play centre. He’s played a lot more on the wing the past two seasons. Wahlstrom also has been playing a lot more wing Wahlstrom is a winger, he won’t play center in the NHL according to pretty much everyone who has been asked. Pettersson whi kniws, I’m hopeful he plays Center long...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

I'd heard Kotkaniemi was climbing the rankings, but I thought most had him pegged as a mid-1st. I'm pretty surprised to see him on #5 on the Button List... Of the forwards possibly available at #7, I think I like Walhstrom and Lundestrom over Tkachuk. I have a funny feeling that it'll be a top-rank...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Hayton. I would pissed if they picked Hughes over those guys but I would be livid if they picked Hayton in that spot Hayton I agree, no reason to take him that high. Hughes I would be fine with, he’s so unique the way he plays with his skating and puck carrying that he would be a big asset to any t...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

I believe Benning when he drops the mic on all these trade Tanev scenarios drawn up by the trade hungry media and fans. Doesn’t make sense to trade a Tanev, our D is thin, he’s got many years of hockey left in him. Ya need some stable veteran presence in a locker room full of kids Hutton is toast t...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

If you acquire Hanifin, then you deal Edler while his value is at it's highest after his rock solid season, probably get a late 1st, 3rd, and a prospect from a contender (with that 1st you can select a decent dman + that #37 2nd rounder we have). I'd then try to force (5'10-190lbs) Stecher to becom...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

In principle I'm ok with trading the 7th overall for Hanifin, but if Van has to add an asset not a chance. Hanifin is a solid #4 guy who could become a #3 guy, which is probably worth the 7 overall. Draft picks are always overvalued at draft time so perhaps there's a chance to squeeze something more...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Picking a RHD would allow us to consider moving Tanev, perhaps not this year but next, or at the TDD if we fall out of it again. I’m assuming that that pick likely won’t be too impactful, if at all, for the Canucks this upcoming season. Picking a LW shores up a need in our top six. To me though pic...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

I could see the Canucks trading back if there is player a team like the Islanders desperately covet at 7th. If the Isles offer up one of their lottery picks and one of their 2nds for our 7th do you do it? Draft someone like Ty Smith of Barrett Hayton and grab an extra 2nd? Is there a big separation...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Speed, speed, speed, seems to be the name of the game in this new age/modern era of NHL hockey . If true - Tkachuk no, Wahlstrom no, Bouchard no. Yes to Dobson, yes to Hughes, yes to Boqvist. Yeah/no? One area the Canucks need to improve upon is speed. Yeah/no? Yep they do. Jake is fast, Pettersson...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

I don’t think Boqvist gets past Arizona - fellow Swede OEL a left shot D, Boqvist right shot. I don’t think Michigan State - Hughes gets past Detroit We will be picking from Dobson, Wahlstrom and Bouchard with it coming down to Dobson or Wahlstrom. If we do pick Wahlstrom Benning has some work to d...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

I would be very happy with Dobson. Size RHD Can point up points Not sure of his skating and defensive zone coverage. He’s a very good skater, not only for his size but in general. Not as good as Hughes, but up there with most others in the draft. Also very good defensively. If he works out he could...
