Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Picking a RHD would allow us to consider moving Tanev, perhaps not this year but next, or at the TDD if we fall out of it again. I’m assuming that that pick likely won’t be too impactful, if at all, for the Canucks this upcoming season. Picking a LW shores up a need in our top six. To me though pic...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

I could see the Canucks trading back if there is player a team like the Islanders desperately covet at 7th. If the Isles offer up one of their lottery picks and one of their 2nds for our 7th do you do it? Draft someone like Ty Smith of Barrett Hayton and grab an extra 2nd? Is there a big separation...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Speed, speed, speed, seems to be the name of the game in this new age/modern era of NHL hockey . If true - Tkachuk no, Wahlstrom no, Bouchard no. Yes to Dobson, yes to Hughes, yes to Boqvist. Yeah/no? One area the Canucks need to improve upon is speed. Yeah/no? Yep they do. Jake is fast, Pettersson...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

I don’t think Boqvist gets past Arizona - fellow Swede OEL a left shot D, Boqvist right shot. I don’t think Michigan State - Hughes gets past Detroit We will be picking from Dobson, Wahlstrom and Bouchard with it coming down to Dobson or Wahlstrom. If we do pick Wahlstrom Benning has some work to d...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

I would be very happy with Dobson. Size RHD Can point up points Not sure of his skating and defensive zone coverage. He’s a very good skater, not only for his size but in general. Not as good as Hughes, but up there with most others in the draft. Also very good defensively. If he works out he could...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Get Bouchard. I’m in on Bouchard I bet some GM's like Bouchard size and complete game over Boqvist's offense and suspect defense. But I got a bad feeling Tkachuk or Wahlstrom will fall to us, just when the team desperately needs to draft a couple quality dmen, not that I'd complain about that. http...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Well that sucked - again. Teams that finish as high as Carolina shouldn’t have the chance at a top pick IMHO, but what can you do. Should only be able to move up 3 or 4 slots like the NBA, not jump all the way up. Anyway, looking at one of Dobson, Bouchard, Hughes, Wahlstrom or Boqvist most likely. ...

Re: 2018 Offseason

Sometimes messages are confusing. Linden said he expects to play several million below the cap and doesn’t expect to be active in FA. Benning said he expects to be active in FA and the trade market. They should talk. Probably the biggest beef I have with management, their PR has been abysmal. I’m n...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Doc, apparently the book is written on Olli, he's a bust apparently. I’m assuming sarcasm? He hasn’t taken the best development path but he’s far from a bust. Just need to see how he looks over the next couple of years. If he becomes a solid 2/3 then he’s a solid player. I’m still expecting a Teppo...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

What’s the difference betweeen a “full tank rebuild” and the current Vancouver Canucks? The current Vancouver Canucks have a smaller prospect pool and a pile of useless talking points (winning culture, culture carriers, mentors, playing the right way, foundational etc.). Can you name a team with a ...

The Never Ending Full Tank Rebuilds - Edmonton Oilers - Buffalo Sabres Rip roaring successes The Hockey Writers last NHL Team Prospect Pool Rankings Canucks - 6th Sabres - 20th Oilers - 21st Hmmmmmm, interesting. Don't forget these rebuilds: LA - 2, 4, 5 picks in successive years Pittsburgh - 2 1st...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

it will be interesting to see if the front office decides to change their 'keep the core together' tactic that has failed so miserably over the past 3 years now that the twins are no longer around. :eh: Worst overall record in the NHL over the past 3 seasons doesn’t lie. The core? Lmao. All that wa...

Re: 2018 Offseason

Diehard what do you think about Ian Cole or Calvin De Haan as potential UFA ? I like the idea of bringing in Ryan Reeves as was suggested above. Give him ten minutes a night and pin his ears back. Don’t mind De Haan, he’s similar to MDZ as a 4/5 who won’t offer much offence but will play solid minu...
