Re: Topper's Grilling Advice!

Thanks for the info....and LOL at your son sending the dish back. What type of potato do you prefer to use? Do you bother indenting them with a fork before dropping them into boiling water or just leave them with a smooth surface? I get the fork ridges will allow for sauce to catch, but pressing on ...

Re: Topper's Grilling Advice!

Topper, how do you make gnocchi? I've made it a few times, and it has been good but not great. I Basically... Peeled and boiled potatoes until fork tender. Drained and mashed. Mixed with egg and flour (apx 1 egg and 1c flour for every cup of potato)...rolled, cut, boiled until they float. To be hone...

Re: Topper's Grilling Advice!

Lemon grass is pretty much inedible, cut it into 3"-4" lengths, them bruise it break the cell walls by gently beating on it with the back side of your knife. Haven't used lemongrass much in the past but this is exactly how I used it this time. Bruised them, cut them, and simmered in stock for about...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Yikes. 1/2 the season for that hit? I dunno, would not be surprised to see an appeal. The Sharks employ a head coach, multiple assistant coaches, a goalie coach, strength & conditioning coaches, etc...yet no "hitting technique" coach. This could have all been avoided and saved the Sharks from losin...

Why they are not also employing shoulder spotters in every rink is beyond me.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Flyers Sign Voracek to an 8-year, $66M extension. $8.25M per. Wow. 11% of the cap on a player who had one great year, seems like a LOT of money to me. I dunno Zed. Voracek has been .89 PPG since coming to Philly. A bit lower than Getzlaf over the same period (.96), better than E.Staal (.82), and pr...

True...and this is much easier to do when those couple of core guys are named Toews, Kane, and Keith.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

I find it interesting that 3 of the 4 goalies left are not your typical franchise type of players. This is one aspect of the modern game that surprises me. Nothing against Crawford but he's only an average type of 'tender and Bishop/Andersen have been letting in some cheese the last few games. Team...

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

How come I never once heard Horton's deal was tougher to trade than Clarkson's? http://www.darrenstoupe.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/headupass.jpg It was never said once by anyone. Well you did refer to Horton's contract as the worst in the league (and far worse than Clarksons)... http://www.canu...

Re: NFL Thread: Thoughts on the game south of the 49th

Crazy finish and obviously a complete head scratcher of a play call in more ways than one. As poor of a call as it was, Butler made an unbelievable read to get position and actually catch the ball instead of just deflect it away. He never should have had the chance, but he certainly made the most of...
