Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

He was a good fit for SJS. I think it’s a good city and a good team for him. Close to home too.

I would have been ok with him here but it’s a few years too early in our development. He was probably tired of rebuilding teams too.

Re: Playoffs

Canucks needed a physical #5 dman so they had Sbisa included in the Kesler trade as a throw-in. Giving up a physical #5 dman in the expansion draft is pretty good considering what other teams gave up. BTW is a physical #5 dman who can fill-in in the top-4 a "good player" or a "poor player"?? :? (or...

Hossa announces retirement. https://www.tsn.ca/report-chicago-forward-hossa-retires-due-to-health-problems-1.1089947 I believe the Luongo Rule will hit the Blackhawks to the tune of $4.25M in recapture for the next 3 years. However..... https://www.nbcchicago.com/blogs/madhouse-enforcer/marian-hoss...

Re: Playoffs

Wow. Vegas made the Jets look ordinary the last four games. Jets looked unbeatable until game two of this series.

The dream is alive!

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Last I heard too was he committed. But that was very quickly followed up by dad saying no, no final decision had been made and likely wouldn’t be made until after the draft. But most pundits thought dad’s comments were made, in some misguided way, to try and protect son’s draft position in the top 5...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Picking a RHD would allow us to consider moving Tanev, perhaps not this year but next, or at the TDD if we fall out of it again. I’m assuming that that pick likely won’t be too impactful, if at all, for the Canucks this upcoming season. Picking a LW shores up a need in our top six. To me though pick...

Re: WC 2018

So we beat Russia to go onto the semifinals. Shocker was Switzerland beat Finland so we play them next, winner goes onto the gold medal game! Meanwhile, USA and Sweden playoff in a semifinal as well. After Finland beat Canada and the U.S. in the preliminary round. I would have offered long odds aga...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Lee Powell@st Lee Powell@st @leepowellST Pettersson thumb injury said to require "minor surgery", should be back to full training within a month, still seems like Canuck luck, was starting to come on in the tourney, don't often see a thumb injury in collision with post, usually it's from a slash. Un...

The Caps are looking good. Make Tampa look like minor leaguers. Playing out to be Winnipeg vs Washington in the finals. Early days I know but both teams looking good.

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Where did you hear this? He looked passable in garbage time I guess. Then again pretty much anyone does when the competition is Hutton, Biega, Pouliott and Stecher. Don’t remember where I read it but it was just after end of year pressers. Benning was quoted as saying they wanted to make room for S...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

The guy the Canucks really want to make room for next season is Sautner. They believe he showed enough to show he was ready for the NHL plus his waiver status next season, and well I’ll be amazed if Hutton survives. I liked what I saw from Sautner, albeit a small sample. I thought he played better e...
