Re: Seattle Expansion/Canucks players

I stole this from another site but don't know how accurate it is : A no trade clause (NTC) isn't a form of a no movement clause (NMC). Both NTCs and NMCs are considered "individually negotiated limitations on player movement" (CBA 11.8). The strongest limitation on player movement is a full NMC. Thi...

Re: Seattle Expansion/Canucks players

Were teams not required to protect players who had NMC that had a modified trade list. In other words, without knowing the exact type of trade clause Louie has he may need to be protected. It depends upon the sub category of his NMC. Loui doesn't have a NMC anymore. I think it's a modified NMC he h...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Bieksa, Hamhuis and Hanson all contemplating retirement. None of the three have had any contract offers as of yet. I'd take one of Bieksa or Hamhuis on a one year deal IF we unload some D contracts, like 4 of them, for picks. I'm talking MDZ, Hutton, Biega, Stetcher types. Make room for Hughes and p...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Kutcherov signs 8 years at 9.5 per. One million more than Stamkos. Tampa saying it won't prevent then from adding one more big contract under the right circumstances. NYR wanted Kutcherov as part of taking bad contracts but Tampa said no. This signing at least locks up the forwards and allows Tampa ...

Re: What to do with Hughes

The Canucks won’t gift him a spot and nor is Hughes asking for that. He’s simply said his preference is to play in the NHL and he leans towards NCAA over Utica. But he has always said he will play wherever the Canucks ask him to play. Benning has also said, whenever asked, that he’d like to get him ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Pedan signs with KHL. I always had hope for this kid but it seems no one really thought enough of him to give him a shot in the NHL.

Well we have Pouliot.

Re: the paranoia of the canuck fanbase

Wasn't it shortly after LE was brought in that the narrative changed from retool to rebuild The narrative changed in that the terminology changed. Why? Who knows why they stated to say rebuild. But note they still use transition and retool as well. They still say remain competitive, protect the kid...

Re: What to do with Hughes

I’m for giving him a spot, if earned, or back to NCAA. Problem is he has to commit before camp, I think even before prospects camp, so the Canucks really don’t have a chance to evaluate him before they decide. He does have team USA mini tournament coming up so they can look at him there I guess. It ...

Re: the paranoia of the canuck fanbase

HW, we wouldn’t have signed a player like LE if they were serious about a rebuild. They tried to stay competitive and still retool, give them A for effort but it didn’t work. Ill give you that one. I hated that contract. Sure, they hoped he’d have magic with the twins but the twins only had two yea...

Re: the paranoia of the canuck fanbase

The biggest factors for preferring the transition over rebuild terminology were we still had the twins and year one Benning’s team got 100+ points. But we all knew it was a rebuild. Kesler said as much when asked why he wanted a trade, he didn’t want to be here for a rebuild. Perhaps some would pref...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 18-19 Sponsored by SKYO

Guessing Sergachev on the move again this time to the Sens, with a 3rd team taking on cap dump's and picks/prospects to help Tampa facilitate the trade. Speculation Sergachev and or Foote plus plus plus. The triple plus because Tampa was granted permission to speak to Karlsson about a new contract ...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Ya I’ve been reading that Palmu was the best of the lot and got a lot of love from the fans. He could be a surprise this year. Also hearing Rathburn was outstanding.
