Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

Even with Neal, I still think they still need at least 1 more top 6 forward. As for Gio - I think he'll be fine next season (he's a fitness freak), but his best years are behind him. Good thing the Flames are deep in defensive prospects. I can see Andersen making the team next season, and Valimaki t...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

The Flames can't afford to sit around and wait on those not-blue-chip goalies IMO. They did well in unloading problem child Hamilton... a good trade for them. Still, they seem like a bubble team to me for the foreseeable future. Not being an asshole, just an honest opinion from an outsider. Hey, if...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

Ritich played fairly well when he was called up. I think he just needs another season or two and he'll be fine. The guy that should be great is Parsons - but then again........... Just look a Hellibuck (or however you spell it), in Winnipeg - he really improved drastically last season over the previ...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

The flames have three decent goalie prospects Gillies and Ritich (one of which will be the backup in the upcoming season) and Parsons who is pegged to be the future goalie for the flames but he's a few years away. So, Smith is a stop gap goalie, but the Flames need at least one more good season out ...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

Flames sign J. Neal. I like the player, but at 31 years old, the term is a bit too long. I think he will really help the flames for 2 or 3 years before he becomes an albatross. This signing should help the flames in the upcoming season. I'm a bit concerned about the goal tending - will Mike Smith ge...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

I haven't been here in quite a while, but I thought I'd chime in with my view of the trade. I think it was a good trade for Calgary. I'm cautiously optimistic - after the Hamonic trade last year, which seemed like it was going to improve the team and get them farther into the playoffs, the team fail...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

Bottom line is the Flames did get better. By adding a reasonable, slow, physical stay at home defender that would be a 5-6 guy on a contender but will play top four on the Flames. Sad. Well the Flames aren't a contender - they are rebuilding. They got a decent D man for spare parts. Nothing sad abo...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

Good trade for the Flames. They didn't give up much for a decent D man with a decent contract for another 2 years after this season. I don't have any expectations for this team, their start, and even their current play is better than I expected. I'm still hoping for a top draft pick, but it doesn't ...

Re: OOTS: 2013-14

Generally I dislike California-teams/Florida-teams/Sabres/ Flames fans . Only their fans? Strangelove is a very appropriate name for you  oopsie, sorry bro, forgot you were here! I did say "generally" though right. Hey no problem - I just thought it was strange that you hated...

Re: OOTS: 2013-14

From this past draft, you could see it in Seth's face that he was quite pissed at not being selected 1st.....let alone, the top 3. He's playing like a guy that is on a mission to prove his detractors wrong. Brown K. Seth Jones could very well be the NHL's best defenceman for the next decade. The Me...

Re: OOTS: 2013-14

He's the real deal is he ? NHL careers are built on the first two weeks of the season on this board I see. Have you even see this kid play ? What does he do well ? Can he play at both ends of the ice ? Is he physical, good on faceoffs ? You probably don't know what hand he shoots. Is he a strong sk...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

I hate Calgary as a city, but I find ALL cities, Vancouver included, as hideous, ugly places to live. That's a ripping yarn there country boy, but the fact remains that Vancouver looks like a postcard and Calgary resembles a fucking garbage dump. An ugly post card. Don't get me wrong - being BC bor...
