Re: Home Construction Discussion

I think the last dive bar in Vancouver that I was in, was probably in 1974 or so - the Fraser Arms. Is it still there?

Re: Home Construction Discussion

Hey BC Expat, would love to pick your brain on contracts and administration, estimating. It’s an area I’m always trying to improve on, the hardest area in home building to be honest - Admin side. I didn't get involved in estimating, but contract administration and construction contracts are somethi...

Re: Home Construction Discussion

Are you a commercial Builder? I’m in single family residential. The COV doesn’t accept spray foam in new builds anymore. You are forced to find other solutions, We went through this on a project regarding an entry porch landing that was over living space below (a basement). The challenge was steppi...

Re: Home Construction Discussion

That’s a pretty sweet bar Expat. What was the final price tag on it? I used pressure treated lumber for everything except for the bar tops and the cedar shingles. The roof deck was also pressure treated 1x6, as the underside is exposed and I didn't want to be looking up at OSB or plywood. The total...

Re: Home Construction Discussion

I've got what was once a covered deck open to the carport that the previous owner and builder of the house enclosed as a boot/sun room. I've been thinking of spray foam in the floor but have little confidences in it. Maybe I'll see how much rock wool I can stuff on there but I suspect that is what ...

Just finished my outdoor bar next to the fire pit. Too bad the willow trees behind it died - have to replace them in the fall.
Missing a Canucks flag, but otherwise looks great! :D
I didn't put a flames flag on it either.

The singer is Ian Anderson - Not Jethro :look: . Bungle in the Jungle was released a few years after Thick as a Brick, and is not one of their better songs. I'm sorry, I can be a bit of a dick at times, Mr Tull is a fine musician ... but he was never the brightest firefly on the farm. Sorta like a ...

Jesus Expat you must be as old as Gomer107. Do you have a skullet as well?
No skullet for me. I'm not old - I've just been young longer than a lot of people :drink: :mex: 8-)

Interesting questions indeed Mr Topper. :drink: I've got one. How long until some schmuck with a cough and Alberta plates rolls into a Hicksville, BC gas station ... and gets the living snot beat outta him? :drink: I've seen a number of vehicles with BC plates here in Alberta recently. None have be...
