Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

Doc mans post Great post Doc, I know that JB has to move some bad contracts but he has to find a dance partner to do it. I do not think LE will be traded this year, like you said next year he will be easier to move so unless he retires he is either on the Nucks or the minors. I looked at cap friend...

Great team mate all the way!
Dorsett is great. However, I do not believe that the Canucks would sign Roussel if Dorsett was still around. Would that be nice if the Canucks could have both of them at the same time?

Re: Offseason grades so far

While I applaud the full on effort to get back into the playoffs this year, mostly borne of GM saving his job, I'm not sure I'm on board yet and feel like I'm caught in the middle. I want to be on board and I like the moves for the most part, this is a very different team for sure when you visualiz...

Re: 2019/20 Pacific Division

The Canucks are fortunate. This is a weak division. It was a weak division last year. And I don't think any team got clearly better this offseason other than the Canucks. An excellent post, as usual, UW. I think it boils down to this. Benning has added the pieces he needed to, he's done his job. IM...

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

Leaves had the best offensive depth in the entire NHL last season. "Depth" had nothing to do with the loss. Spezza isn't an NHL centre? His #'s in Dallas indicates he is. Kerfoot can play C as well. Spezza was an NHL centre, not sure he will be one in this coming season. So he suddebly lost it, got...

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

BTW, since we are on the cap subject, are Canuck fans concerned how they are being built? There is a lot of cap tied-up to late 20's and 30's bottom 6 talent. I'm so glad Leaves are not paying the Eriksson, Myers and Beagle's of the world that much $. On the flip side, we have more than 2 NHL centr...

Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

As others have said, lining Ferland and Virtanen on a 3rd line would be a terror on the forecheck. Can people just give it a rest on trying to get Virtanen out of here??? I just don't get the hate, or the devaluation, or whatever you want to call it. Virtanen is not a deal-sweetener, he's a signifi...

Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

Considering his asking price was around $5m before July 1, $3.5m is a great deal!

RW Justin Bailey signs with Canucks. 1yr @ 700k
Bailey is a big kid, 6'4" 214lb. He is only 24 years old. He could still be a useful 4th line winger.

Re: How did Jimmy do

I was actually worried Benn was going to get $3M per. $2M isn't bad, although I'm not sure how $2M for Benn is much better than $700K for Schenn..... $700k is the minimum salary for 2019/20 season. If Schenn wanted to stay in Vancouver, I am pretty sure a deal could be done. Apparently, he would li...

Re: Offseason grades so far

Pat Quinn was "at least" as god good. ;) You're right - Pat Quinn who had 4 years of irrelevance and a 2nd OA pick, and 7 years to get a Cinderella/contender team to the finals. Quinn also made playoffs in 7 of 10 years. After the coming season Benning is likely to go have made playoffs in 1 of 6 y...

Re: Free agent FRENZY thread. July 1, 2019

2 years, $2 million per for Benn. Very nice deal by Jimbo, even less money than I thought he would get. Suggested he plays real well, much better, on the right side. That was the selling point. Stecher wont be inundated with ice time now. He does play the right side more than the left, so we are le...
