Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

Nobody knows how far EP can take the team. Hes definitely the engine that could land at minimum a playoff spot...maybe farther. Hes in the crosby mcdavid class of elite player that can carry a team all the way if the stars align just so. You build championship teams with pieces like this Agreed, bu...

Re: What to do with Alex Edler ?

I can see Tanev being traded though as i bet that little geek in toronto will pony up if benning can bend him over far enough...Liljigren and their 1st? If Benning gets that for Tanev, I'd have to take a look at boarding the genius train myself. (I could say all the previous problems were before he...

Sutter is who we should be talking about trading
I agree. (I'm always a little freaked out when that happens.)

I mention it to show that I am not reflexively anti-Dude.

Re: Canuck News and Notes - 2018-2019

If he's good to go, he's good to go. No bruising, no swelling, no limp, and MRI says minor. Which is great (and lucky). I'm sure the Canucks are being very cautious with the kid, so it's unlikely they rush him back. Knowing the grind the season can take on these guys, and the attention he gets as o...

Re: Canuck News and Notes - 2018-2019

If I were the Canucks, I would announce a “setback” in Pettersson’s recovery and make him unavailable for the all star weekend. Give the kid a break, and send a veiled message to the league to do a better job protecting the club’s stars before we see another Naslund or Daniel Sedin incident. The al...

Tryamkin (next year?).
I haven't seen or heard any evidence to support his. Do you know something you're not sharing ?

Re: The 2017 NHL Entry Draft

It also speaks to a great deal of patience (or in Benning's case, confidence in his job security), since it's hard to see how this kid could be ready for the NHL in less than two years. Might seem like a great pick in 2020, but doesn't really work with Doc's timeline . Pettersson and Dahlen will jo...

Well some good news sorta by Murphy: Saw Pettersson walk through the room. No crutches and not a noticeable limp. canucks waiting on coach to talk. And Petey will travel with the team to Toronto tonight. Glad to learn that The Alien is also preternaturally flexible. But how many times do y...

Re: GDT: Jan 3/19. 4:30 pm SN Canucks @ Habs

It’s hard to care right now. I’ll know how to feel after a proper prognosis That, and --longer term -- how the department of player safety handles it. Just so hard to care about this league and team anymore. I have been a fan since the kid 80s. We finally get a true superstar back and just seems li...

Re: The Rebuild...

Some may feel obliged to point out that smaller, highly skilled teams have had playoff success before, and that there are many -- maybe more than ever before -- smaller players having success now. Those are True Facts.

But those are different franchises, and different cities. And this is the NHL.

Re: The Rebuild...

I guess this is the thread for it. Pettersson is clearly a gifted hockey player. He is also very light, and proportionately more vulnerable to injury. (Both of the plays on which he has been injured this season involved the other player picking him up and tossing him down. Yes, that's a penalty. But...

Wait a sec...wouldn't a genius GM hire a coach who knew how to manage and control (and possibly even exploit for his own purposes) the NHL's position on extra-curricular violence ?
